Where to stay for your remote West Texas Big Bend getaway!
Terlingua Ranch Lodge is a Big Bend vacation destination located between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Our lodge offers rustic accommodations, convenient amenities, and scenic attractions.
Terlingua Ranch Lodge is owned by the Property Owners Association of Terlingua Ranch, Inc. (POATRI), a not-for-profit corporation. POATRI represents some 5,000 property owners who collectively own Terlingua Ranch, nearly 210,000 acres of unique, remote and rugged natural beauty in the Rio Grande Big Bend region of West Texas.
The Lodge is located in south Brewster County with Big Bend National Park to the east and Big Bend Ranch State Park to the west. It covers 425 acres and consists of the main office with front desk and gift shop, the Bad Rabbit Cafe, guest cabins, RV sites, individual campsites and group campgrounds, an airstrip, a horse corral, a swimming pool, bathhouse, laundromat and many other amenities. Our office is open 7 days a week, 9:00am-5:00pm.
We are in the Chihuahuan Desert and it is best to have a full gas tank when you leave Alpine heading south on Texas Highway 118. The nearest bank is in Study Butte. The nearest pharmacy is in Alpine. And although we have a restaurant on the grounds, hours may vary and you will want to bring water, drinks and snacks with you. We do sell ice.
From TX-118 drive 62 miles south from Alpine or 18 miles north from Study Butte then turn east at the large Terlingua Ranch sign. Follow Terlingua Ranch Road for 16 miles. The first 13 miles are paved, the remaining three miles are unpaved. Often this road is washboarded due to dry conditions, vehicle speed and traffic volume.
